FEED-IN TARIFFS

What incentives are you eligible for if you produce more electricity than you consume?

What is a Feed-in Tariff?

A Feed-in Tariff (FiT) is the monetary amount that you are reimbursed per unit (kilowatt per hour – kWh) of the unused electricity generated by your solar power system that is sent back into the grid.

This payment is made as a credit on your bill and is dependant on the state that you live in.

Australia currently has no country-wide program, only state-operated schemes. In the past, governments heavily funded certain schemes as in incentive to have more solar systems installed on homes. However, these rates have dropped significantly over the years and now many Australian homeowners have begun considering whether solar is still a good investment.

While FiTs aren’t as high as they used to be, South Australia still has among the highest in Australia. Below is a table demonstrating the maximum feed-in tariffs available by each retailer.
